This was one of the first Star Wars models I built. I used this to experimenting with colours and weathering effects and creating close damage detail. I primed the surface and then sprayed over with military greens and reds to match as close the look from the movies. The trouble with matching any single source for this build was that they all differed. Even in the movies the Slave One appeared to be colour graded differently. This would cause the colours to seem dark in some frames and light in others. I eventually settled to paint it as close to the box art and apply weathering and damage effects to match the movies.

Using mat colours I flooded the joins with diluted black stains to accentuate the hull pieces. The paint chipping effect was completed with a scalpel and scratching away the main paint to reveal the undercoat. I was always happy with the overall size of this kit. At 1:85 it wasn’t too small but not so big it was hard to mount. The fins articulate and the front carbonit bay lid can be removed. This cockpit control deck does swivel when the model is rotated. This is a lovely model to look at as it has such a unique & iconic shape.
